Southern Accent Shutters takes our role as responsible members of planet earth seriously, and we are committed to using environmentally friendly materials made from renewable resources to produce our beautiful shutters!
Our wood comes from the Appalachian Hardwood Forest Boundary, a renewable and growing resource! Our wood source is part of the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers who have received notification from the U.S. Forest Service that the 344 county region is a Sustainable Hardwood Forest. There are more than 65.4 million acres of timberland in the Appalachian Hardwood Forest, an increase in the past 15 years. Within this boundary of 12 states in the Eastern United States, averages of 2.3 trees are growing for every tree that is harvested.
Our paint is (and has always been) non-toxic water based, cabinet grade Sherwin Williams lacquer. Are you concerned with foreign made shutters or products painted with who knows what? Do they have periodic OSCHA inspections, and comply with stringent US consumer safety regulations? No! Does it matter what you surround yourself with in your home that you spend so much of your life? Absolutely!
NO vinyl wrapped shutters here! It can peel if chipped as opposed to our shutter, which can be touched up with non-toxic paint. What is the anti-yellowing agent used in most vinyl? What happens when it catches fire? How about PVC? Is that a material that you want in your windows?
Recycle! Our garage grade shutter is our same wood that has some “character” and while it may not meet our high standards to put it in your beautiful living or dining room, it is perfect for garages and unfinished attics. Instead of clogging a landfill or incurring additional fuel charges for transport, we use it to complete the look of your side load garage! NO one else does this! Did we mention that it is half the price? Contact us today to learn more.
